Homework Club is a place for North Phoenix Prep students to complete homework, receive peer tutoring, or quietly socialize in a structured, supervised environment. The program runs Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday beginning at 3:30 through 5:00 PM except for noted half- days. Please note: All students who are not enrolled in an extracurricular activity or Homework Club need to be off campus by 3:30 pm.

How the program works

Homework Club is open to students in grades 7 – 12. It operates every full school day (excluding half-days) from 3:30PM until 5: Prior Registration is required

Homework Club is a place for North Phoenix Prep students to complete homework, receive peer tutoring, or quietly socialize in a structured, supervised environment. The program runs at 3:30PM through 5:00 PM except for noted half- days. Please note: All students who are not enrolled in an extracurricular activity or Homework Club need to be off campus by 3:30 pm.

Once you register and receive a confirmation email, print your confirmation email, and have your student bring to the first day of Homework Club to the teacher monitor.

Upon dismissal at the end of the day, students will have about 10 minutes to gather their belongings, have a snack, and proceed to the Homework Club room, where they will sign in.

If students have clubs or need to attend tutoring with a teacher directly after school (prior to the start of Homework Club), they may sign into Homework Club once they are finished. They will need to provide a pass from the teacher to the homework club monitor.

Parents do not need to communicate to us which days their children will attend; parents are responsible for instructing their children which days they should attend Homework Club, and which days they will be picked up.

We do not assume responsibility for registered students unless and until they actually sign in to Homework Club. Once they sign in, we will be responsible for them until parents pick them up and sign them out, or until they are dismissed for athletic practice.

A charge of $1.00/minute will be incurred for late pickups (after 5:00PM).

Students who are picked up after 5:00pm more than once within a semester may be dismissed from Homework Club.

The homework club teachers reserve the right to dismiss a student from a club for any reason. Unruly, or disrespectful behavior will not be tolerated. Parents will be contacted in the event their student needs to be dismissed. It is imperative that parental contact information is accurate in the student information system. Any updates/changes to parent contacts need to be reported to the office manager immediately. If a parent cannot be reached within 30 minutes, child welfare authorities will be notified.

What Homework Club is...and NOT

Homework Club is a safe, structured environment in which students may quietly work on homework until their parents arrive to pick them up or until they are dismissed for athletic practice. While we allow for quiet peer tutoring, it should be notated that Homework Club is not a “tutoring service”. Homework Club monitors will be happy to answer the occasional question, but they will not be able to work individually with students for extended periods. Students who require individual tutoring should make arrangements with their teachers.

Homework Club monitors assume that students will work independently on their homework, and that, once their homework is finished, they may read appropriate selections, work ahead, draw, et cetera. Monitors will not be checking to see that each student has finished his/her homework; completing homework is each student’s responsibility.

Cell phone use is restricted during Homework Club as is during the normal school day. Students may not use their cell phones for "research purposes" or as calculators. Cell phones must remain put away (in backpacks) for the duration of the homework club.

Please note that no refunds will be granted for withdrawals or absences.
